About
History
In late 2004 I (jayef) decided to start a movieposter database. My friend (Roman) helped me to code the whole site and it went online in december 2004!
While the site was growing really fast, the site got overloaded and we had to get another server.
After reaching the 100'000 posters mark, we had to get a second server which gave us alot of new problems on the site. However, Roman didn't really have time no more to make sure the site was running properly so it came to a downtime in early 2007. In May I finally found someone new (Martijn), to be able to code a new site and bring the old database with full content back to live. Since september 2007 the site is back online in full effect.

Purpose
The main purpose of the MoviePosterDB.com website is to provide a database with movie posters that is as complete as possible. All movie posters are free to download
as a 300 pixels wide jpeg file.
The principle of the website is that a user uploads a poster, and then can download one other poster. Therefore, MoviePosterDB.com is NOT a commercial site. You do not need to pay to download posters. If, however, you decide that you don't want to or cannot contribute to the site by uploading posters, but you still want to download high-resolution images, you can buy credits. That money is spent on a big server.
We believe that our website does not devalue the ability of copyright holders to profit from their original work.
